Headbands...the other veil

I feel I'm getting into dangerous waters. I have less than 4 months until the wedding and I still haven't decided on my shoes, hair, jewelry, or headwear. Again, just too many choices out there. But you have to start somewhere, so I'm starting with some non-traditional headbands. If a veil is not your thing, there are certainly plenty of other options out there.

How can you not want every piece of headwear from Ban.do? Maybe I should dedicate an entire post just to ban.do.? Not to mention I love love love their styling. Fake lashes for a wedding? Maybe...

I have to admit that while I am totally in love with all of these, I am a tad bit afraid that such beautiful and unique headpieces could distract from the main attraction aka the dress. Especially these last 2, part of the Ban.do black label.

These beautiful metal pieces from Jennifer Behr (which carry a somewhat hefty pricetag) might be a little bit more subdued but are just as lovely.
And of course there is the wonder that is Etsy. Honestly, how did people get married before Etsy? There aren't nearly enough hours in the day to search through all the wonderful reources for brides, but I thought I'd highlight a couple, and I'd love to hear about more.

I'm working on looking at some unique pins and veils as well, that I'll hopefully put up soon. Check out all the vendors shown above here:

  1. Is it ok to wear some of these headbands when you aren't getting married? Because I want to. I really, really want to.

Especially that last one from ban.do black label. I mean, doesn't it even kind of look like me? (It doesn't look anything like me..)

Oh, and I was going to suggest that if you are worried about upstaging the dress, try something somewhat simple, like the first two or the last one.

  2. Definitely! Actually a lot of these are not specifically meant for getting married. Can I suggest you get one of these to wear to my wedding?

  3. My take: the top two from ban.do are subtle enough to not take away from the main attraction (although do they go with the main attraction?). I like the first Jennifer Behr one; not crazy about the second. Actually, i'm not crazy in general about the headbands that are meant to be worn across the forehead like that; too strongly hippie- although the ones here are nice. I LOVE the second and fourth Etsy choices, and really want them for myself... the second one has Something Blue (of the something, old, something new etc). The last one is my idea of perfection.

  4. I like the ban do ones the most, but I don't think that the big flowers are great choices unless you have a very plain dress. I also agree with Angela about hippie headbands, although, the idea of like a flower-crown type thing like the ivy or the pussy-willow ones here can work if you want a certain look. Are you thinking this instead of veil? Some of them might be a challenge to pull off with a veil also. I'm very pro-veil. Come on, when else in your life do you get to wear a veil? I had wanted to wear one since I was a little girl, and I had veil ideas before my dress idea.

  5. Marisa, I think your argument has won me over. I just needed to tap a little further into my "inner 6 year old".

  6. Such a great post! I love these two designers and have already checked them out as possible things to wear after the ceremony. Maybe wear a veil then change into an amazing headband? That's what I am doing! No matter what, you'll look incredible!! :)
